It's been a few months between blog posts, a few months between writing of new songs, a few months since calmness of spirit. Although I exercise mindfulness and an attitude of gratitude, just like everyone else I find myself distracted with the 'daily goings on' that interrupt my higher vibration.

Looking back...

I'm definitely guilty of always looking forward. I've always got something I'm working towards and sometimes things take longer than expected. It's those times that feel like I'm making no progress at all and it's during those 'slower times' that I need to just take stock and look back at where I've come from.

After moving to Horsham and finally settling into my new life, I kept making friends with girls that knew how to play piano. Some of them were even taught by my Grandmother, Mrs Schirmer, a local legend and award winning teacher in the classical music scene. And I started wishing I had been offered the opportunity myself.

It was just after Easter 2014 and I'd experienced a string of family deaths. My health was shot and I felt overworked and under-appreciated. I ran my own business, managed staff and overheads as well as a home and family with two adorable children under three. My creative spark was fried.

Mark this day

“Mark this day James”… Today I begin a milestone I didn’t know I’d be achieving a few years ago.

When I started writing my songs, the next big thing I could see was to build and record in a new music studio. Living in rural Victoria (Australia) it meant that once complete, I could arrange and record my own stuff right here, then get it mastered and released as a high-quality ‘home job’.
